One of the original Cinque Ports, of which there were only five, and famous for the Norman landings in 1066 which changed the course of British history, the town of Hastings is known world wide. Visit the remnants of the old Norman castle on the West Hill just above George Street
The Old Town Guest House is situated on the corner of George Street and the High Street, right in the centre of Hastings' famous Old Town. Take a look at the fishing boats and the net huts along Rock-a-Nore, view the characteristic buildings of time gone by, some dating back to 1450. Wind your way along one of the many twittens. Guided old town walks will transport you back in time, to Hastings' smuggling past. Then a delicious meal at one of the many bars and restaurants, all within a five minute walk, and many offering meals cooked from fresh local produce. Hastings can also boast two lively theatres, and the Odeon cinema. The Old Town also has its very own cinema, the Electric Palace, which screens new releases, classic black and white, and quirky, off the wall films. Small but perfectly formed.

Just 50 metres away is the beach, where you can enjoy a peaceful stroll along the promenade whilst sampling some of the best fish and chips around, coastal walks, fun at the fair, bingo, shopping in Priory Meadow or Crazy Golf on the seafront. You'll find everything you want for a short break. Or take your time discovering the East Coast. Hastings is the ideal base, with regular trains and buses to Rye, Bexhill, Winchelsea, Ashbourne,Tenterten, Eastbourne, Dover and Brighton.

Music lovers will find live music every night of the week plus Live Mic nights, Karaoke and Pub Quizzes. Hastings has a vibrant music scene. The music season starts on the weekend before Fat Tuesday when a touch of New Orleans comes to Hastings. On Saturday there are 150 gigs in one afternoon with 30 acts playing 15 minute sets at each venue. And it just gets better. "Laissez les bons temps rouler..."

Hastings was recently voted "most musical town in the UK" by Goldsmiths, University of London and BBC Lab UK in their highly regarded Plus One Journal.
